For many people being present at the birth of their first child is cited as one of the greatest moments in their lives. For me, the birth of “the twins will be remembered as a strange, surreal day, and one I’d rather forget.
By Thursday, I had been getting niggling pains on-off for a couple of days and I assumed these were just the Braxton Hicks again. Since I was not due for another eight weeks, I decided to travel to the Sunny South East for the weekend.
I remember feeling somewhat restless all weekend and I didn’t get much sleep. I had some pains during the weekend, but nothing to be concerned about.
Lucas, the youngest of our three boys, was born on the
5th of August 2009. Two days before his birth, in the evening, I suddenly felt I was freezing, my teeth were rattling and I could not manage to warm up, no matter what.
My name is Eimear O’Reilly and I am Momma to Mia Rose who is four and a half and Finn who is twenty months. I have a physical disability that requires me to walk with the aid of crutches. Other than that I’m quite independent and I do all the things mams usually do.
