Hairy eggs

E-mail Print PDF

Growing something edible doesn't require a garden or even a pot, and it doesn't need to take ages. Crack a few eggs, it's a bit tricky because you need to try to only break a small portion of the top and keep as much as possible of the egg intact.

Fill the shell with cotton and wet it with water.

Put the eggs in egg cups or a row of egg carton. Let your children carefully paint or draw faces or decorations on the shells. Sprinkle some garden cress seeds on the wet cotton and keep it moist. The seed can usually be bought in a garden centre or health food store. After just a few days you will see cress growing, it can be used for sandwiches or salads.
