Sure you could buy a plastic playhouse, but in bad weather it might be hard to convince your child to use it and having it inside is hardly an option for most. So go to an appliance store and ask if they can give you some flat cardboard and a large cardboard box, from a washing machine or cooker.
Cut out a few windows on each side and a door in the box. You can either leave empty spaces or the cut out as a shutter or a door. The flat cardboard can be folded in the middle or taped together to make a pointed roof on the box.
Then let your child paint and decorate the house. Paint flowers, birds, trees and grass on the outside, a television, curtains, pictures, piano, and so forth on the inside. She could also have a picnic snack inside.
After a few days you could dismantle it and throw it out or store it under a bed.
What you need:
Large cardboard box (from a large appliance)
Cutting knife
Tape
Paints, pens, brushes
