With a bit of a garden you could let your child camp out during the day. You can buy a cheap tent or make one up yourself with throws, large towels or bed sheets.
Join four long bamboo sticks on one end with cord and stick them into the ground. Spread your throws or sheets over the frame, secure them with clothe pegs onto the frame and put a few stones on the bottom so that they do not fly away with the wind.
Let your child bring out cushions and a towel for the grass. It is a great place for a picnic, reading a book or drawing.
