Parenting is Childsplay: The Teenage Years
by David Coleman
“You may have gone through adolescence yourself, but that may have been 30 or 40 years ago, so you have probably forgotten the worst of it”, says Coleman in an interview in the Herald. Like his tv show, psychologist David Coleman's new book deals with parenting during the dreaded teenage years. And as his last book, it deals primarily with just explaining the "why" of teenage behaviour. It is not just a book about getting strategies to change your teenagers behaviour, but also the make parents see the effects of their parenting styles and how they need to develop to deal with a teen. The strategies and psychological techniques you might have to use as a parent are explained, but reaching the results is not as simple as following a set of defined steps. You will have to prepare the ground before these techniques work, but they will give you the perseverance stay focused on dealing with your teenager and family situation.
