Last chance this year to visit the Straffan butterfly farm in co. Kildare. Learn about butterflies from all around the world by walking through the tropical house.
You will be able to see the butterflies laying eggs, hungry caterpillars and the pupae, and lucky ones might see a butterfly emerging from it's cocoon. The whole life cycle of a butterfly.
There is also an extensive display of butterflies from many parts of the world, packet with amazing facts. All the butterflies in the collection have been farmed at Straffan, they have not been caught in the wild. You can also see tarantula spiders, scorpions, stick insects and small reptiles, housed in natural surroundings.
Open: Open every day from 12pm-5pm, from 29th May to 31st August
Cost: €5 child, €8 adult, €25 family of five.
