E-mail Print PDF
Family_cooking_0511_french_toastA great choice for a quick snack or tea, and a quick alternative to pancakes. While many recipes include sugar in the batter, it is enough to add it as a topping. This is a quick and easy recipe for kids to use for last minute solutions.

What you need (serves 2)

4 slices of slice pan, brown or white
2 eggs
½ cup of milk
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cinnamon or grating of nutmeg (optional)
Butter or oil for frying

What you do

Beat the egg and the milk, add the salt and cinnamon and mix until the batter is smooth. Heat up your pan lightly with a bit of oil or butter. Dip the bread in the mixture, make sure it is soaked through, and fry it slowly in the pan until it is golden brown on both sides.

The French toast can be served with fresh fruit, maple syrup, honey or jam. You can also eat it with a dollop of thick natural yogurt or cottage cheese.
