The story of the fun and acrobatic Rapunzel that is isolated in a tower by Gothel, her supposed mother, to protect her and her 70 feet long magical hair. An adventurer and thief, Flynn Rider, ends up in her tower by mistake, and with threats Rapunzel makes him promise to show her the lights that appear on the night sky every year on her birthday.
The story may attract girls first, but the movie is made for both boys and adults to enjoy. Without much slapstick and hidden adult meaning in the dialogue, the uncomplicated story moves fast and is both clever and fun.
There are great character on the side line, such as the dog--like Captain of the Guard’s horse Maximus, who’s personal mission is to capture Flynn, but also Rapunzels sidekick pet, Pascal the chameleon and the hardened criminals of the Snuggly Duckling inn.
The 3D viewing is good, particularly the scene with the flying lanterns. Small children that refuse to wear the glasses, will see most of the movie blurry. The 3D glasses are also useless during the "night shot" scenes, of which there are plenty, but you will believe the lanterns are flying by you.
Disney’s new animated movie is premiering in Irish cinemas this Friday 28th January.
