A good, non-romantic or soppy story about a little girl with magical powers. An adaptation of Roald Dahls book, by Danny DeVito who also stars as Matilda's father. Matilda lives with her selfish family, where she is ignored and laughed at. She just doesn't fit in and is sent to a boarding school with a horrible principal. Matilda discovers that she has magical powers and can make things move. Although Matilda's situation can be dire, she never looses her sense of fun and her confidence. She knows she is perfectly fine as she is and it's really others that behave badly, no matter how often they tell her she is weird. A perfect movie to enhance little children's confidence in themselves and maybe read Roald Dahl's book as well.
