Today has been a horrid day. I may not have spent as much time roaring as I have on other such days, but the impatience I feel at my children’s demand just makes my heart feel heavy with guilt.

There are times I am extremely unfair to my family, particularly the kids. Today is such a day.
I’m in recovery from the worst and nastiest bout of flu I ever went through. We were all in bed for a week and should probably still be resting. My GP figures it was the swine flu.

When I was pregnant with my girls I attended a short seminar with other expectant parents of twins. In short, the speaker that day, a midwife and also a mother of twins, said: “The first year can be hell, but having twins will pay back…eventually”.

I think the husband has got the message. He won't give away my hard earned home made pickles and ketchup without asking me first, discretely. There is no point asking me in front of the would be recipient, I'm just not rude enough to say no when the offer has been made.
