I thought I had put the whole kid’s shoe issue behind me in a previous post, see There are no Shoes. But as I again had to prowl the shoe shops with my girls, I relived the feeling of disgust at the whole kid’s shoes issue.
It’s not so much that the only available shoes for girls are either white, pink, sparkly, with flashy lights, and so on. Most would call them cute, I personally am inclined to brand them annoying. What really riles me up is the quality of them, while boy’s shoes are comfortable, sturdy and practical; girl’s shoes are just frilly.
If I lived in the city I would have very few issues with the frilly girl's shoes, but out in the country they get wrecked in less than a week. Trying to get my girls to choose the drab brown or blue boy’s shoes was an impossible task and one I didn’t bother spending much time on. I wish there could be a range of shoes In gender neutral or mixed colours.
At the end of the day, I don’t personally care what colour their shoes are, my priorities are simply that they keep their feet warm and dry. These are two issues that seem to elude most children’s shoes manufacturers, or they just don’t think girls deserve those simple perks. I might just give up and start looking for shoes online.

Kid’s shoes are still a nightmare
